Our project at #AvalonMarshesVisitorCentre at #ShapwickNatureReserve, #Somerset for Natural England, is shortlisted as a finalist for the 'Habitat Creation Project of the Year' award at the CIRIA Awards.
Key Highlights:
š A transformation of a former landfill site into a nature-inspired haven.
š³ Introducing local habitats back to the site and increasing biodiversity, such as reed beds, native hedgerows, wetland planting, tree planting, and wildflower areas.
š§ Implementing nature-based flood prevention solutions such as biorentation, swales, and permeable paving.
The project was a collaborative effort with Kier GroupTony FordCole Easdon Orme Architecture (Orme Limited), Baltonsborough, Somersettom gascoyne, planting design by Flavia Goldsworthy and client Natural EnglandJulie Merrett Simon Clarke and #DEFRA#EdWhite. Also, landscape contractors Artisan Landscapes Group (phase 3) and Elmtree Garden Contractors LtdPaul Lynch (phase 4)
